Airport is a 1970s film series consisting of four airplane themed disaster films that include Airport, Airport 1975, Airport '77 and The Concorde ... Airport '79.

They are based on the novel Airport by Arthur Hailey.

The only actor in all four films is George Kennedy as Joe Patroni. Patroni's character evolves from a chief mechanic in Airport to a vice president of operations in Airport 1975, a consultant in Airport '77, and an airline pilot in The Concorde ... Airport '79.

Reception

The first Airport film from 1970 had reviews complimenting the film's influence on the disaster genre and its "camp value."

In 1971, Burt Lancaster, star of the 1970 Airport, said in reaction to the 1970 film's 10 Academy Award nominations, that the film as "the biggest piece of junk ever made."

The New Yorker film critic Pauline Kael called Airport 1975 "cut-rate swill", produced on a TV-movie budget by mercenary businessmen. Kael also wrote the audio problems gave Karen Black's voice a metallic sound that was grating and that the main character, a stewardess, was constantly being patronized by men.Vincent Canby of The New York Times called Airport 1975 "a silly sequel with a 747".

Port Columbus International Airport (IATA: CMH, ICAO: KCMH, FAA LID: CMH), commonly shortened to Port Columbus, is a Class C international airport located 6 miles (9.7 km) east of downtown Columbus, Ohio, USA. It is managed by the Columbus Regional Airport Authority, which also oversees operations at Rickenbacker International Airport and Bolton Field. The airport code 'CMH' stands for "Columbus Municipal Hangar," an old name for the airport.

Port Columbus is primarily a passenger airport. It provides 140 non-stop flights to 34 airports via 6 airlines daily. Traffic reached 6,355,974 passengers in 2014, a 2.1% increase over the previous year.

According to a 2005 market survey, Port Columbus attracts about 50% of its passengers from outside of its 60-mile (97 km) radius primary service region. In addition, the airport also handles freight and US mail, with 10,411,920 units of freight and 8,537,279 units of mail passing through in 2006.

Philippe Liégeois

Philippe Liégeois is a Belgian comic book artist, born on 8 July 1947. He is best known by his penname Turk. He is the co-author of numerous comic books, including Colonel Clifton, Léonard and Robin Dubois. His usual writer for all three series is Bob de Groot, and the duo "Turk & De Groot" has been very successful.

Biography

Liégeois was born in the city of Durbuy, Belgium. The house is now converted to a hotel-restaurant, with a small plaquette at the door denoting the birthplace. Philippe is a French-speaking Belgian, living in the Ardennes near Namur, Belgium.

Turk (caste)

The Turk are a Muslim community found in the Terai region of the states of Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh in India.

Origin

The Turks claim to have come from Central Asia to India with the armies of Mohammad Ghori, who settled in the slopes of the Himalayas, to guard the plains of North India from the Rajputs of the Garhwal and Kumaon hills. Some claim to have originally been Oghuz Turks. They are now found in Udham Singh Nagar District of Uttarakhand state, and the terai portions of the districts of Rampur, Amroha, Moradabad, Muzaffarnagar, Saharanpur, Haridwar and Bijnor in Uttar Pradesh. A few are also found in the Baheri tehsil of Bareilly District. The Turk speak Urdu as well as the Khari boli dialect of Hindi.. There are sub caste of turks like Jhojha and Khoja, living at the bank of Ganga river.

Present circumstances

The Turk are an endogamous community, and prefer marrying close kin. They are essential small and medium sized farmers, and their villages tend to be uni-caste. The Turk cultivate wheat, paddy, maize, sorghum and sugar cane. Those in north Rohilkhand have benefited from the effects of the Green Revolution. Their customs are similar to other neighbouring Muslim communities such as the Rayeen and Rohilla. They have fairly active caste council, which deals with community welfare as well as an instrument of social control. The Turk are entirely Sunni Muslims, like other Muslim communities in western Rohilkhand, they have seen a growth in madrasas in their villages. Recent attempts by the community to gain Other Backward Classes status have been unsuccessful.

Turk (rapper)

Tab Virgil, Jr. (born 1981), better known by his stage name Turk (sometimes "Young Turk" or "Lil Turk"), is an American rapper from New Orleans, Louisiana. He is best known for his time with Cash Money Records and with the Hot Boys.

Career

His debut album Young & Thuggin' became a Top 10 hit on the Billboard 200. After the split of the Hot Boys in 2001 & his departure of Cash Money in 2003 he signed a deal with producer Ke'Noe at Laboratory Recordz and released two albums Raw & Uncut and Penitentiary Chances. In 2005, Turk was convicted on federal charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a fugitive from justice in possession of a firearm, and an unlawful user addicted to a controlled substance in possession of a firearm. The charges arose from the shooting of a Memphis,Tennessee police officer in early 2004. He was sentenced to 10 years of incarceration. In 2006, he entered an Alford plea in Tennessee state court to second-degree attempted murder, based on the same incident, and was sentenced to 14 years imprisonment.
